Karen Broussard

Karen Smith Broussard, 48, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on July 18, 2015. She was born in Franklin, Louisiana on September 21, 1966 to her loving parents, Bob and Rosie Smith, of Abbeville, Louisiana.
She graduated from Abbeville High School. She was married to her high school sweetheart Eric Broussard on August 21, 1987. Karen attended the University of Louisiana Lafayette studying Business Administration and Fine Art. She graduated with an associate degree in Business Administration. She served as a front office receptionist, secretary and teacher's aide for 10 years at Powell Elementary School where she was known and beloved by parents, students, teachers, and fellow co-workers, alike. She had a gift for helping others, and her selfless spirit was widely known and admired. Her biggest passion was spending time with family and friends. Being a devoted wife and mother was the role she enjoyed the most and raising her three sons was her biggest pride and joy. She was known for her incredible cooking, and sharing this gift with others was one of her favorite things to do. She had an artistic eye and enjoyed antiquing with friends. Her bright personality was a blessing to all who knew her, and she is dearly loved and missed by many.
She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Eric Broussard; parents, Bob and Rosie Smith; son, Vance Broussard and daughter-in-law Morgan; son Kyle Broussard and future daughter-in-law Megan Senger; son Craig Broussard; brother, Robby Smith and wife Wendy; nephew and niece Harrison Smith and Ellie Smith; sister-in-law Lisa Broussard Labarraque; in-laws Adam and Marlene Broussard; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles and friends.
Pallbearers are Vance Broussard, Kyle Broussard, Craig Broussard, Robby Smith, Gary Estopinal, Al DeGrazia, Scott Bowen, and Ryan Bowen.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 21st at Forest Park Funeral Home in The Woodlands, Texas, from 5-9 pm, with a rosary to be recited at 6 pm. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 22nd at 11 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. There will also be a visitation at the church from 10-10:45 AM preceding the funeral. Flowers may be sent to Forest Park Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
