NEW IBERIA — A Home Going Celebration will be held for Joseph Steward, Jr., 58 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel, New Iberia, LA with Rev. Francis Davis, Officiating.
He will await the resurrection at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Petit Anse, LA.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at the funeral home until the time of service.
A native of Abbeville, LA and resident of St. Martinville, LA, he passed at 2:04 p.m. on Monday March 23, 2015 at Dauterive Hospital, New Iberia, LA.
He leaves to cherish his memory and in God’s care three daughters, Latania Steward of St. Martinville, LA, Corie Steward of New Iberia, LA, and Judy Steward of St. Martinville, LA; and their mother and ex-wife, Marie Clara Belle Allen Spencer; three brothers, Bobby Montgomery, Johnny Montgomery, and Milton Montgomery all of Abbeville, LA; two sisters. Cynthia Montgomery and Dorothy Boutte of Abbeville, LA; a godchild Talitha Campbell of Abbeville, LA.; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He now joins in glory with his parents, Orien Montgomery and Elvie Steward Montgomery; one brother Oris Montgomery, and one grandchild Ja’Harick Steward.
Active pallbearers will be Jabien Baker, Ma’Khyrick Eddie, Orien Montgomery, Charles Nora, Jason Provost, and Mar’ Keyvrick Eddie.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Allen, Johnny Montgomery, Milton Montgomery, Derek Boutte, Fenery Walker, and Jarason Provost.
