A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Joseph ”Jody” Edward Miller II will beginning at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Community Baptist Church, 800 Rue Du Belier, Lafayette, LA.
Joseph “Jody” Edward Miller II, 59 years old, of Scott, Louisiana unexpectedly passed away in Hazlehurt, Mississippi on October 1, 2016 doing what he loved, driving his truck.
Jody loved his family and friends as well as his church family at Community Baptist Church. He loved driving his 18-wheeler truck and was dedicated to driving for Conway Freight. In 2006, Jody reached his safe million mile mark and was nearly at his safe 2 million mile mark. Since high school, Jody has loved the band, KISS.
Jody was born on September 2, 1957 in Washington, Indiana to Joseph “Joe” Miller I and Iris “Earlene” Miller of Broussard, Louisiana. He spent his childhood traveling from South Louisiana to Minnesota with his parents and three younger siblings, Johnny, Jimbo, and JoAnne “Sissy”, working with his family’s carnival business, Miller Street Fair. He proudly attended and graduated from Plantation Elementary School in 1971 and Ovey Comeaux High School in 1975.
On April 7, 1987, he married Linda Chaney Miller. In 1986, they had their first daughter, Jolene, and then 1988, they welcomed their first son, Joseph “Joey” Edward Miller III. Jody was a proud grandfather to Wayne Simon Mengel and Aiden Sepulvado.
Jody was loved and respected by all and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Scott, LA; his daughter Jolene, son-in-law Wayne and grandson Wayne of Lafayette, LA; his son Joey, his fiancé Brittany and grandson Aiden of Shreveport, LA; his parents Joe and Earlene of Broussard, LA; his brother Johnny of Maurice; his brother James “Jimbo” and his wife Patrice of Maurice, LA; his sister JoAnne “Sissy” and Gene Caldwell of Broussard, LA. He will be missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie “Grandma” Miller, Nick “Grandpa” Miller, Iris “Grandma Lite” Little Wolf Cluckey, and Earl “Grandpa Chief” Little Wolf Cluckey, his mother in law and father in law, Lucille and Talmadge “Tom” Chaney, his sister in law, Anna Miller, his uncle Patrick “Pat” Little Wolf Cluckey and dear friend Richard “Uncle Shirt” Hansen.
