Jane Gillentine Hair

GUEYDAN — The family and friends of Jane Gillentine Hair are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on November 17, 2016, at the age of 85. Jane was born in Crowley, LA to Jewel John Gillentine and Gladys Seward Gillentine on April 21, 1931. Jane was a lifetime member of Gueydan First United Methodist Church. She loved arranging flowers for the church and other multiple occasions. Jane volunteered countless years, providing and arranging meals for grieving families in the church fellowship hall. Jane was also a longtime member of the United Methodist Women, Garden Club, Home Demonstration and Eastern Star. She was an active parent in the Girl Scouts, 4H, PTA, St. David’s Youth Organization and a kindergarten Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher for 25 years. Jane was a founding member of the Gueydan Museum and was the museum curator for 12 years until her passing. She was a founding and active member of the Gueydan Art Lovers Association (GALA). She was an avid art lover of all forms and mediums. Jane especially loved the time she spent with her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jane is survived by one son, John “Jack” Vernon (Angel) Hair of Maurice, LA; two daughters, Melanie Hair (Darin) Templet of Rio Rancho, NM, Lauren Hair (David) Lawrence of Mew Waverly, TX; six grandchildren, John V. Hair, Jr. of Maurice, LA, Jared Hair of Maurice, LA, Taryn (Heath) Comeaux of Maurice, LA, Tori (Jeremy) Bertrand of Maurice, LA, Bryan Landry of Albuquerque, NM, Rachel Landry of Albuquerque, NM; as well as five great-grandchildren, plus two more on the way, a girl and a boy.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Gladys Seward Gillentine; her beloved husband, Vernon Hair; two brothers, John Gillentine and Glynne Gillentine.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Gueydan on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Reverend John Kraus officiating. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church in Gueydan beginning on Sunday, November 20th from 2:00 PM until the time of her funeral service on Monday at 10:00 AM.
