James Luther Simon Jr. “Jimmy”

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday December 3, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of James Luther Simon Jr., 62, who died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at University Medical Center in New Orleans. Reverend Louis Richard will officiate the service.
Those closest to Jimmy knew that under his rough exterior was the biggest heart.  He loved his family and every stranger he met. Some of his favorite pastimes were taking family and friends fishing at his fishing pond and going to Grande Isle with his mother and Freda.  He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his fiancé, Freda Petro Talbot; son, Clinton James Simon and his wife, Emily of Meaux; three grandchildren, Kate Simon, Emmitt Simon and Harper Talbot; three sisters, Winnie LeBlanc and her husband, Steve of Abbeville, Lana Stoute and her husband, Ronald of Erath, and Roslyn Simon and her husband, Bryan of Maurice; numerous nieces and nephews; Freda’s father, Joe Petro, Jr. who looked at Jimmy as his own son, her children, Joshua Talbot and his wife, Taneeya, Michael Talbot and his partner, Bryan Landry and the Petro Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Luther Simon, Sr. and the former Mathilde LeBouef.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Saturday December 3, 2016 from 9:30 AM until 12:15 PM when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in James “Jimmy” L. Simon, Jr.’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
