Irene Touchet Soileau

GUEYDAN - It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Irene Touchet Soileau announces her passing from this life on November 30, 2013 at the age of 67. Irene was born in Kaplan to the late Milton Touchet and the late Gladys Lavergne Touchet on October 5, 1946. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She always set an example of God’s grace to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that she loved so dearly. Irene love to cook for her family and enjoyed sewing. She loved playing her games on her lap top. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Irene is survived by her husband Oda “Joe” Soileau of Gueydan; sons, Leland Soileau and Lambert Soileau (Charlette Henry) both of Gueydan; daughter, Lana Watkins (Robert) of Gueydan; three brothers, Roland Touchet (Joyce) of Lyons Point, Donald Touchet (Jane) of Gueydan and Jimmy Touchet (Donna) of Klondike; one sister, Jan LeJeune (Robert) of Gueydan; her eight precious grandchildren Tiffany Mier, Heidi Leblanc, Topanga Watkins, Ian Soileau, Sophie Soileau, Trevor Soileau, Brianna Soileau and Parker Soileau; and her two great grandchildren: Ashlyn Mier and Shawn Mier.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Gladys Touchet; one great grandson, Trey Strang.
A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating. Burial followed in the Gueydan Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Monday, December 2, from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed on Tuesday, December 3 at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass on at 1 p.m.
