ABBEVILLE – Funeral services for Mr. George C. Diggs, Jr. is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Macedonia Baptist Church – 607 S. Bailey Street – Abbeville with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Gross Isle. Rev. E. J. Guidry will officiate the service.
George Diggs, Jr. (74), a long time resident of Abbeville, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, August 7, 2015 at Abbeville General Hospital.
He leaves in God’s care to cherish his memories his wife and companion of 45 years, Mary Lou Diggs; his sons, Julius (Felicia), Michael (Sherry), George H., Kevin (Kila), Shawn (Michelle), George L., Donavon (Demetria), Jerran (Sharla), Dwayne, Jamaal and Jonathan; his daughters, Cheryl, Cynthia, Terraine, Trellanie, Tisa L. (Markelle), Adrienne, and Tasha; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, Julia (Kelvin); two aunts, Elizabeth Coleman, Theresa Cox; mother in law, Martha L. Bessard, father in law, Melvin Minnick, three brother in laws, four sister in laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Claudine Cox Diggs; a sister, Shirley Carter; two brothers, James and Norman Diggs; three sons, Jalen, Jeremy, and Albert; and one daughter Angela.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church and resume on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
