Emery Leo Dugas

LAKE ARTHUR - A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Mr. Emery Leo Dugas, 77 on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating.
Burial was in the Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.
Visitation hours were from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 and continued on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Monday evening.
Mr. Dugas died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:45 p.m. in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Gueydan, and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Mr. Dugas was employed by the Lake Arthur Rice Dryer and he enjoyed doing small engine repairs, gardening and yard work.
Mr. Dugas is survived by his wife; Leita Merle Guidry Dugas, a son; Dwayne Dugas of Orlando, FL, a sister; Shirlene (Alex) Broussard of Gueydan, and a brother; Michael (Laura) Dugas of Winnie, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Flavia Cormier Dugas, a son, Darrell Dugas, a sister, Doris Melancon and a brother, Rufus Dugas, Jr.
Pallbearers were Alex Broussard, Jr., Ronald Broussard. Derek LeMaire, Gregory Guidry, Buck Guidry and Jonathan Guidry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Granger, Donald Woods, Collette Hoffpauir, Aldus Hebert and Anthony Guidry.
