Earline Marie “Sis” Michaud

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Earline Marie “Sis” Michaud, 70, will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with burial at St. Paul Mausoleum, Abbeville, La. Her godson, Reverend Father Mark F. Melancon, Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Church Point, La. will preside with other priests of the Diocese of Lafayette concelebrating. The pallbearers will be her nephews and godsons. The readers will be her nieces and goddaughter.
Earline “Sis” Michaud was born on July 13, 1945, in Carencro, La., to Elvin Michaud and Buna Babineaux. She lived in Abbeville most of her life. She graduated from Abbeville High School in 1963.
She was known as “Sis” because in addition to her brothers and sisters, she was like a sister to everyone she knew. Sis had such a kind and loving heart. She was always asking if she could help you. She had her camera ready for every occasion. She had a front license plate that said “Taxi” because she was always bringing her nieces and nephews to many different events. She loved to dance, bowl, play bingo, and bourré. She was a proud godmother to Michael Broussard, Dennis Arabie, Faye Patten, Rev. Mark Melancon, and Brenna Hornsby.
She is survived by her father, Elvin J. Michaud, Sr.; sisters and brothers, Norma Jane Buford and her husband, Robert, Barbara Melancon and her husband, Kenneth, Judy Shea, Glen Michaud, Sr. and his wife, Nancy, Yvonne Gaspard and her husband, Wayne, Elvin Michaud, Jr, and Dale Michaud and his wife, Vickie; fifteen nieces and nephews, Tammy Lynn Broussard Gaspard, Bart Allen Broussard, Rev. Mark Francis Melancon, Todd Patrick Melancon, Lais James Ryder, Jr., Alicia Kaye Ryder, Dana Ryder Stelly, Cleveland Glynn Michaud, Jr., Marcus Roy Hebert, Dawayne Joseph Gaspard, Brenna Earline Michaud Hornsby, Genesia C-Ann Michaud Thompson, Michael Carl Michaud, Brett Dale Michaud, and Brock Joseph Michaud; nineteen great nieces and nephews, Tristin Alan Gaspard, Trinity Sarah-Ann Gaspard, Alex Michael Broussard, Ali Michelle Broussard, Cleveland Glynn Michaud, III (Traé), twins Lahna Jolie Michaud and Lucy Nell Michaud, Onna Marie Thompson, Emma Elizabeth Thompson, Ethan Andrew Richard Thompson, Ava Grace Hornsby, Nolan Lee Hornsby, Daylan Dawayne Ryder, Brant Wayne Stelly, Ahni Marie Stelly, Alayna Kaye Henry, Corbin Allen Hebert, Jackson Wayne Gaspard, and Lane Patrick Melancon.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Buna Babineaux; paternal grandparents, Frank Michaud, Sr. and Lea Smith; and maternal grandparents, Adolphe Babineaux and Alicia LeBlanc.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
