Funeral service for Dixie Marie Gary will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Kinchen Funeral Home/C.M. Butler Chapel – 218 N. St. Valerie Street – Abbeville, LA with Minister Roy P. Thomas officiating.
Dixie Marie Gary, a life-long resident of Abbeville, LA passed away at her home on Thursday, January 09, 2014 surrounded by family and loved ones.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Dalton Gary of Maurice, LA; two daughters, Nyquila Levine and Russtina Baudoin (Tyrone) of Abbeville, LA; one step-daughter, Natacha D. Rice and four step-sons, Russell W. Rice Jr. (Doren); Dwayne Rice (Alma); John Ryan and T. Gary; four sisters, Linda Levine Dozier (Charles), Bernice Levine Walker, Birdie Levine Briggs (Wayne), and Tammy Levine all of Abbeville, LA; one brother, Lennis “Timbo” Plowden, Jr. of Abbeville, LA; and her nanny, Gladys “Nanan” Briggs of Abbeville, LA; her paran, Rufus “Baby” Levine (Rose) of Abbeville, LA; special friends, Jackie Levy, Dotsie Thibodeaux and Rachael Trahan; six grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Lennis Plowden Sr. and Suzanna Levine Cole, one son, Damon Levine, one daughter, Sasha Von Rice, one brother, Robert “Rob” Plowden, and her grandparents, Ruffin Levine and Sarah Greene Levine. Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the funeral home chapel until the time of the service.
