Charles “Charlie” Anthony Zaunbrecher

Gueydan: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for Charles “Charlie” Zaunbrecher, 77 of Gueydan, LA on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home on Monday, May 18th from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a rosary recited at 10:00 AM. Charlie will be laid to rest in Gueydan Cemetery with Father Clint Trahan officiating.

Charlie was born in Gueydan, LA on October 19, 1937 to the late Joseph Zaunbrecher and the late Mary Klien Zaunbrecher. Charlie was called to his heavenly Father on May 16, 2015. Charlie loved being outdoors. He was a farmer all his life. Charlie was an avid supporter of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and School. He loved attending the Sales at the Sales Barn and going to the Rodeo. He also enjoyed watching Football and Baseball. Charlie was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charlie is survived by two brothers, Ronald (Eldie) Zaunbrecher of Lake Arthur, LA, William “Bill” (Nona) Zaunbrecher of Gueydan, LA; as well as a very special niece and nephew, Monica Zaunbrecher and Joel (Patricia) Zaunbrecher both of Gueydan, LA.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Zaunbrecher; five brothers, Philip, Wilfred, Frederick, Richard and Julian Zaunbrecher; two sisters, Mary LeBlanc and Dorothy Toups.

Carrying Charlie to his final resting place in the Gueydan Cemetery will be Joel Zaunbrecher, Richard J. Zaunbrecher, Martin Zaunbrecher, Neal Zaunbrecher, Jason Zaunbrecher and Blaise Zaunbrecher. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle Zaunbrecher and Justin Zaunbrecher.
