Calvin J. Menard
DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Calvin J. “T-Black” Menard, age73, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Neil Pettit, Associate Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre on Monday from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Calvin was born July 4, 1941 in Abbeville, LA and passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Calvin, known by family and friends as “T-Black”, was a Boat Captain in the oil and gas industry for over 28 years. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, trolling, and gardening. His greatest joy was “passing a good time” with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Darlene Vice Menard of Delcambre; his children, Kevin Menard, Troy Menard (Lucy), and Melanie M. Piper (Matthew) all of Erath, and Kelly Menard (Heather) of Kaplan; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and his sisters, Merlene Menard of Abbeville and Roberta M. Suire (Raywood) of Erath.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke Menard and Effie Hebert Menard; and his sisters, Velta Guillory and Audrey Bourque.
Pallbearers will be Kevin menard, Troy Vice, Matt Piper, Aaron Trahan, Charles Dugas, Jr. and Danny Townsend. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Menard and Braxen LeBlanc.
