Bill Lane Stelly was born October 8, 1953 to the late Gladston Stelly and Jeanne Broussard Stelly, and was one of three children. He passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, December 1, 2013 with his family at his side.
Bill, known by family and friends as “Wild Bill”, was a simple man that enjoyed the simple things in life. He worked many years in the oilfield and as a carpenter. Bill also was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, tending to his animals, and working with horses. He had a green thumb and tended a beautiful and plentiful garden. But his greatest passion was the love he had for his family and the time he spent with them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Tina Duhon Stelly of Delcambre; his sons, Rexby Stelly of Lafayette, Reis Stelly of Henry, Kip and Dylan Stelly both of Delcambre; and his daughter, Jeannell Stelly of Delcambre. He is also survived by a sister, Diana Boudreaux and husband Johnny of Agnes Plantation; a brother, Russell Stelly and wife Debra of Meaux; and Tiffany “Lil T” Callahan, whom Bill looked upon as one of his own.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Stelly; and his grandparents, Minos and Ozite Broussard, Edias Stelly, and Nita Vincent.
Pallbearers will be Kip and Dylan Stelly, Eric Toups, Michael P. Renard, Russell Stelly, Timmy, Toby and Steve Duhon. Honorary pallbearers are Sterling Callahan, Jr. Randall Perrin, Travis Duhon, Shane, Kyle and Guy Stelly, Bryan and Brett Boudreaux, Bob Toups, and Reid Broussard.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Concepts of Care Home Health, and heart of Hospice for their care and compassion during this time.
