Allen Ray Domingues, Sr.

A private funeral mass was held on Monday, November 7, 2016 to remember Mr. Allen Ray Domingues, Sr. Mr. Domingues passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Allen Ray Domingues was born on November 8, 1925 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. 
Mr. Domingues was survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janelle Plattsmier Domingues, his sisters, Lena Domingues Elliott and Vida Domingues Luquette, children, Jan Domingues Guilbeau (Roger), Allen Ray Domingues, Jr., Donald Edmund Domingues, Stephen Brian Domingues (Pam), Joy Domingues Barter (Lynn), and Jill Domingues Sargent (William). Mr. Domingues was grandfather to 13 and great-grandfather to eight. He was preceded in death by parents, Lucille Goulas Domingues and Joseph Alcibiade Domingues, brother, Louis “Chester” Domingues.
Mr. Domingues was a graduate of St. Bernard High School in Breaux Bridge, and Southern Louisiana Institute. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served as a gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress through the end of World War II.
In addition to raising a family of six, Mr. Domingues spent his career building Ray Chevrolet in Abbeville. Mr. Domingues was the second generation to own and operate a Chevrolet dealership. His father founded Domingues Motors in Breaux Bridge. His children will continue the family business.
Mr. Domingues lived his life to the fullest. He had an insatiable appetite for life and cuisine. Mr. Domingues traveled the world with wife, Janelle, by his side. He remembered every great meal of his life, but none more important to him than the meals he prepared for his family.
Mr. Domingues was an active member of his community and annually raffled a new car in support of the Sisters of Mount Carmel and Vermilion Catholic High School. He was a member of the Abbeville Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Domingues can be made to the Mount Carmel and Vermilion Catholic Capital Fund, 425 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510. His friends and family will miss his warm heart and generous nature.
