Wanda Landry Norris

ERATH – Funeral services for Wanda Landry Norris, 92, were held at 3:00PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. William Schambough officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
A native of Erath and a resident of Abbeville Ms. Wanda, Momma, “Tee-Toot”, and the greatest of all Mawmaw passed away November 19, 2016 at Eastridge Nursing Home of Abbeville at the age of 92.
Wanda was born on June 12, 1924, and at 18 married the late Junius “Slim” Norris. Her parents were the late Cleo J. Landry Sr. and Elise Schexnyder all of Erath, La. She was the oldest of 10 children. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nanny, and also an “adopted” mother to many. Wanda has 6 children: Stanley “Boogie”, Stephanie, Allen, Roland, Cindy and her baby the late Mark “Slim” Norris Sr. She also had 6 in-laws which she would tease them and call them “ the outlaws”, Linda, Richard Sr., Leurline “Sis”, Abbie, Harvey Sr., and Donna. Mawmaw as she was called loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren too; all she wanted was to see them all succeed and that she did.
Wanda taught CCD classes, sold Avon, did ironing at home. She was a Golden Age Queen in the 80’s in Delcambre; she worked 15 years at Champagne’s in Erath. After her so called “retirement” she sat in house with the elderly. Her love of people took her many places and her favorite of all was Rome, Italy. She loved to fish, bake old fashion doughnuts, huge tarts, fudge, and cook Sunday dinners. Her family could always count on a hot meal and good laughs. No one ever left hungry from her table. She also loved to read, she said, “reading Amish stories was the best. “ “Rest mom enjoy those wings you have earned. Tell our daddy and Mark we miss them. Until we see you again, you were the greatest mom we could ask for, you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. Love, your children.”
Left here to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Angelle’, Jamie, Richard Jr., Kevin, Jonathon, Dawn, Janise’, Brinnon, Blake, Harvey Jr., Ashley, Mark J., Anthony and her 2 year old Madison. Wanda was a great grandmother to eighteen and a great great grandmother to one. She also had an “adopted” son, who came to see her very often, Paul Landry. “Tee-Toot” also had four living siblings Stanley Landry Groves, TX, Calvin Landry, Cleo J. Landry Jr. and one sister Sue Touchet all from Erath, La.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Junius “Slim” Norris, Her “baby boy” Mark “Slim” Norris Sr., and a great grandson Keb Townley. Wanda also had siblings to go and make the way for her, which she spoke of everyday and missed dearly. Her baby sister Joceyln Landry, her brother and Godchild Roland Landry, Russell “Bruce” Landry, Carol J. Landry, and a sister Helen Richard all of Erath.
