Hodo Paul Cormier

LYONS POINT — A Liturgy of the Word Service will be celebrated for Hodo Paul Cormier, 92, at 10::00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point, LA with Deacon Dennis LaCroix officiating. Visitation will be held at Duhon Funeral Home- RAYNE Chapel on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM and will resume on Saturday at 8:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow the church service and will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lyons Point, LA. Mr. Cormier passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Eastridge Assisted Living Center where he resided for the past 9 years.
Mr. Cormier was the beloved husband of the late Leona Kritzer Cormier; he was the devoted father of Diana Cormier (Nancy Hirzel) , Catherine Mayeux (Jules) and Bradley Cormier; loving grandfather of Luke Mayeux (Johnna) and Ellen Eldridge (Reed); great grandfather of Gracie and Andrew Mayeux and Leona, Cora and Jack Eldridge.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leona “Tootsie” Cormier; parents, Odelon Cormier and Thelma Fontenot Cormier and one brother, Wilson Cormier.
Hodo was born on September 17, 1924 in Lyons Point, LA and spent most of his life on his family rice farm in Lyons Point, LA. He was employed in a rice mill and later worked for many years as an Engineer on offshore tugboats. He had a love, passion and a real knack for growing things and maintained gardens throughout his life. While living at Eastridge Assisted Living, he maintained a beautiful vegetable garden and provided vegetables for everyone including the Eastridge Kitchen.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Eastridge Assisted Living (present ), Judy, Charlene, Bobby Jo, Quadrett, Reva, Ivette, Shara, Jeneen, Laura, Martha, Cathy and Mary; (past) Wendy Hebert and Peggy Turner. Also the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, Robin Broussard, Marcia Walker, Dr. Morris Hoffpauir, Thomas Sommers and Jenee Segura.
