Kaplan tailback Mac Thibeaux ran for 193 yards against ED White.

No. 7 ranked Pirates improve to 4-0

THIBODAUX - The No. 7 ranked Kaplan Pirates scored 26 second half points to beat E.D. White 34-18 on Friday on the road.
With the victory, the Pirates (4-0) are now in a three-way tie for first place in District 8-3A at 1-0.
Joining them at the top are Berwick (4-0) and Erath (3-1).
After a scoreless first quarter, Kaplan’s Mac Thibeaux broke a 32-yard run for a touchdown at the 7:10 mark in the second period. Quarterback Daniel Lotief ran it into the end zone for the two point conversion, putting KHS ahead, 8-3.
The score stayed that way in the first half.
Four minutes into the third period, Kaplan’s Julius Johnson plunged two yards into the end zone. The two point was not successful and Kaplan went ahead 14-3.
Three minutes after Johnson’s TD, Thibeaux was scoring his second touchdown. He sprinted 38 yards for paydirt.
Thibeaux had a heck of a night. He ran for 193 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Johnson finished with 82 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.
The Pirates did something against E.D. White they have not done all season. Kaplan quarterback Daniel Lotief completed his first pass of 2016. Not only did he complete it, it went for a touchdown.
Lotief found Ridge Herpin for a 23-yard touchdown pass a minute into the fourth period.
Lotief finished the game 1 for 3 throwing for 23 yards.
Kaplan had 402 yards on the ground while its defense allowed E.D. White 147 yards on the ground.
Kaplan had 22 first downs and E.D. White only had 10.
Other ball carriers for Kaplan were Ridge Herpin (6-42) and Rhett Menard (6-47).
Kaplan is at home Friday against Patterson in a district contest.
