VC girls are No. 1 in latest Class A power point ranking
When you win, good things happen.
After winning six straight games, the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles now find themselves in the No. 1 slot in the latest Class A Power Point ranking released on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles (19-4) climbed at six spots in a week after beating Lafayette Christian, Hanson and Gueydan.
The LHSAA released a new power point ranking onTuesday. The top 32 make the playoffs and the top 16 play a first round game at home.
VC head coach Kim Guidry said she was surprised when she checked the ranking on the LHSAA website.
“It just makes you feel that we are working hard, and it paid off this week,” said Guidry. “As we know with all that is involved in the ranking, next week we could drop after playing Centerville or Highland. So with that said, we will enjoy the ranking till next week and take it with a grain of salt."
North Central (17-2) is No. 2 and Arcadia (19-1) is No. 3. Gueydan fell from No. 2 to No. 4 after losing to Lafayette Christian (No. 9) and VC.
In VC’s district, Central Catholic is No. 21 and Hanson is No. 24.
In Class 2A, Delcambre girls are No. 34.
In Class 3A, Erath jumped from No. 12 to No. 9
In Class 4A, Abbeville is No. 36.
In boys rankings,
In Class 4A, Abbeville is No. 18. (top 16 get a first round home game).
In Class 3A, North Vermilion is No. 16. Erath is No. 46 and Kaplan is No. 49.
In Class 2A, LCA is No. 1, VC is No. 21, Centerville is No. 25, Ascension Catholic No. 27 and Central Catholic No. 29. Gueydan is No. 41.
