Familiar Police Jury in Vermilion Parish
There are a lot of familiar faces on the new Vermilion Parish Police Jury.
At Monday night’s police jury meeting, the new board took over. Out of the 14, 13 are returning police jurors.
There was only one new police juror who was sworn in.
Jason Picard, from the North Vermilion area, was sworn in by Judge Edward Broussard. Picard is taking over the seat that was once held by Allen Lemaire, who elected not to seek re-election.
The other 13 were sworn in by Judge Laurie Hulin and Judge Broussard.
The new board also elected a president and a new vice president.
Ron Darby, from District 4, was selected as the new president. Darby is beginning his fourth term as a police juror. He was the vice president the last two years.
“I am honored to be the president,” said Darby. “I want to keep the police jury moving forward. Everyone is getting along and I plan to continue to have the unity that we have had.”
Pervis Gaspard is the new vice president of the police jury.
The jurors are Dane Hebert (District 1), Jason Picard (District 2), Nathan Granger (District 3), Darby (District 4), Wayne Touchet (District 5), Mark Poche (District 6), Paul Bourgeois (District 7), Errol Domingues (District 8), Kevin Sagrera (District 9), Ronald Menard (District 10), Pervis Gaspard (District 11), Cloris Boudreaux (District 12), Sandrus Stelly (District 13) and Leon Broussard (District 14).
The police juror who has been there the longest is Mark Poche (starting his fifth term).
Darby and Touchet are starting their fourth term.
The police jury also approved the rehiring of Linda Duhon as the parish administrator and Tim Baudoin as the treasurer.
