Seven local teams make the LHSAA high school playoffs
The LHSAA released the nine 2015 playoff brackets at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and every high school in the parish landed in the playoffs.
The playoffs will begin Friday and continue until the state championship games in New Orleans.
The teams are divided this year into select and nonselect schools in the playoffs. Select schools are put in the Division I-IV, while the nonselect schools will be in the Class 1A-5A. The state championships will be played Dec. 4 and Dec. 11-12 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Three teams land a home game, while the other four are on the road.
Class 4A
The Abbeville Wildcats are back in the playoffs, thanks to the 7-0 win over Westgate. The No 31 seed Wildcats do not have to travel too far for their first round game. The Wildcats (4-6) head to Crowley to play the No. 2 seed Crowley Gents, who are 10-0.
In Division IV, Vermilion Catholic (8-2) is the No. 2 seed and they will play No. 15 seed Convenant Christian.
The winner of that game will play the winner of No. 7 Delhi Charter and No. 10 Westminister.
In Class 3A, the parish will be represented by three teams.
No. 7 Kaplan and No. 12 Erath will get a home game. No. 28 North Vermilion travels to No. 5 Church Point.
Kaplan entertains No. 24 Brusly, while Erath plays host to No 21 Iowa.
The winner of the Erath/Iowa game plays the winner of the North Vermilion/Church Point game. There is a chance Erath could be hosting North Vermilion in the second round if both teams win.
If Kaplan wins, it plays the winner of the No. 8 South Beauregard/No. 24 Brusly game.
Class 2A
No. 25 Delcambre (3-7) travels to No. 8 Mangham.
In Class 1A, No. 20 Gueydan travels to No. 13 Block.
