Voters pass rededication of ‘75 sales tax in Maurice

MAURICE — Voters in the Village of Maurice have passed the rededication of the 1975 sales tax.
On Saturday, 214 voted yes (63 percent) for the proposition; 124 (37 percent) voted no.
With the measure passing, half of the ‘75 sales tax will fund capital improvements. The other half of the tax will continue to go towards the sewer and water fund.
The rededication will officially go into effect on Jan. 1, 2016.
Voters renewed the Ward 8 1.19 mills. The millage is for maintenance of cemeteries.
