Cajun Food Fest. Oct. 3

KAPLAN — The 10th annual La. Cajun Food Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 in downtown Kaplan.
Kaplan’s annual Louisiana Cajun Food promises to have superb weather to enjoy the excellent dancing, music, great tasting food and a variety of vendors which will offer many beautiful handmade items.
Gates open at 9 a.m. and a car show will begin at 10 a.m.
Proceeds for the event will go towards the Kaplan Police Association.
“Last year the event made $25,000,” said Sandie Domingue, event coordinator. “The Kaplan Police Association received $10,000 which was used to purchase seven full body armors and four throw over vest. A total of $15,000 was used to pay for bands that were booked in January of this year.”
“By coming to our food fest, you will have a good time, and at the same time, you will be giving a helping hand to our officers.”
The day will begin with the Boogie on the Boulevard 5K run at Turnley Park.
Craft and food vendors will open at 10 a.m.
The 10th Annual Cajun Food Fest includes a great line-up for all music lovers.
Ethan Hunt, the Piano man, will open up the event at 11 a.m. and play till noon.
Strange Theories will come on next from 12:15-1:30 p.m.
While taking a break in the music, the cook off results will be given, the area queens will be introduced and a dedication in memory of Tracy Franques will be made. Franques had previously served on the Food Fest board and was recently killed in an auto accident.
The afternoon bands will include:
•Zydeco Ray and the Creole Night Riders from 2-3:30 p.m.
•Mike Dean from 4-5:30 p.m.
•Jet Seven from 6-7:30 p.m.
•Jaryd Lane from 8-9:30 p.m.
And closing the event will be Doug Stone. He will play from 10-11:30 p.m.
