Sounds on the Square returns this Thursday with Beau Young Band
Music is in the air! This fall you will hear music ranging from “swamp pop, Cajun to all sounds in between.
Sounds on the Square opens this Thursday night, Sept. 24, with Abbeville native Beau Young. The free event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Magdalen Square in downtown Abbeville.
Members of the Beau Young Band include Beau Young, David Bourque, Eddie Langlinais, Josh Bourque, and Joshua Dugan.
The Beau Young Band is a variety band with a party attitude. Old Rock n Roll, Country, Zydeco, and anything in between.
“If you made a South Louisiana Mixtape,” Abbeville Main Street Manager Charlene Beckett said, “that is exactly what the BYB sounds like.
Those who attend will also hear original songs off of Beau Young's albums, "Life Lessons" and "Small Town.” Both albums feature all-original songs written by Beau Young.
Since 2012, the Beau Young Band has gained momentum in South Louisiana. The band has played small venues and private parties, to big stage festivals. They have opened for national acts, such as Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chestnutt, Neil McCoy, John Conlee, and more.
They are currently touring around South Louisiana and writing new songs for a new album. They have also been recording live performances to put together a Live Album. They will be recording Live for Sounds on the Square
“Make sure to come out to be part of the new album,” Beckett said.
The fall and spring series is “Supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arte Council as administered by the Acadian Center for the Arts”
Sounds on the Square is a city sponsored event with refreshments provided by the Allume’ Society with proceeds to benefit “Save the Franks.”
