Abbeville Police arrest man for failure to register as sex offender, carnal knowledge of juvenile
Abbeville Police arrested James Michael LeBlanc Monday, a week after receiving a complaint that he allegedly had sexual contact with a juvenile.
Police booked LeBlanc Monday after interviewing him at the Abbeville Police Department. LeBlanc, 19, faces charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and failure to register as a sex offender. His bond for failure to register as a sex offender is $25,000. A bond for felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile had not been set as of press time.
“During an interview he admitted to having sex with the minor,” Abbeville Police Det. David Hardy said. “There was at least a four-year age difference. He has been living in different locations in Abbeville and did not register as a sex offender.”
LeBlanc was convicted of indecent behavior with juveniles/indecent behavior in the presence of the child in August of 2010 while living in Aubrey, Texas. LeBlanc’s record for his booking in the Vermilion Parish Correction Center shows an address of 4903 La. Hwy. 14 in New Iberia.
“That is an address where he had been living,” Hardy said. “He had been staying around Abbeville for a while.”
