American Legion in Abbeville thanks everyone for Poppy Drive
The American Legion Auxiliary Vermilion Unit 29 of Abbeville has many thanks to present.
The American Legion would first like to thank all the brave men and women who defended our country and fought for our freedoms that we enjoy today.
To the Legionnaires, who participated in our Memorial Day Poppy Drive on May 23, are also being thanked.
Marion Davidson of the American Legion thanked the businesses who allowed them to sit or stand in front of their place and pick up donations.
“Year after year, you continue to let us do our Poppy Drives and we really do appreciate it,” said Davidson. “The businesses participating in the drive are Tractor Supply, Robie’s and Shuck’s. We would also like to thank Allaina and Maggie Callahan, two of our Junior Auxiliary members for the beautiful posters they made.”
She also thanked the people of Abbeville for all their generous donations.
Here are a few things that have been done to assist our \veterans.
• A donation of $5 buys socks for hospitalized and/or homeless veterans.
• A $10 donation provides transportation for a veteran to a VA medical facility.
• A $25 donation buys a Veteran clothing for a job interview and $50 provides a holiday dinner for a veterans family.
If you are a veteran in need or know of a veteran with needs, we are here to help. You can contact Davidson, at (337) 523-4335 and she will put you in touch with the right people for your particular situation.
