Joy Justeen Walker Broussard

ABBEVILLE — In loving memory of Joy Justeen Walker Broussard age 85, who passed away Monday May 11, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 12, 2015 at 3:00PM in David Funeral Home of Abbeville, with Pastor Steve Delino officiating at the service. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday May 12, 2015 from 9:00AM until service time at 3:00PM in the funeral home.
Mrs. Joy Broussard was a resident of Abbeville and a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle since 1978 which her and her husband Murvin started. She was married to Mr. Murvin Broussard in 1952. Mrs. Broussard enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, sewing, fishing, gardening and above all shopping. Mr. Broussard would call her the “Shopping Queen of the South”. She would shop for her and everyone else she knew. Mrs. Broussard was also a great cook. She always made her cream puffs for everyone to enjoy and passed down her cooking skills to the whole family. Mrs. Broussard was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty two years; Murvin Broussard, daughter; Linda L. Broussard of Kaplan, La, two sons; Dennis B. Broussard and wife Ruth of Galliano, La, and Philip D. Broussard and wife Theresa of Abbeville, La, one brother; Bill Walker of Shreveport, La, one sister; Sarah Pawater and husband David of San Antonio, TX, five grandchildren; Denny Paul Broussard and wife Jessica of Mobile, AL, Mandy Friloux and husband Chris of Raceland, La, Nina Broussard of Houma, La, Brittney Broussard of Ester, La, Bradley Broussard and wife Ashlynn of Kaplan, La, and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father; Hugie Walker, mother the former Mertie Thornton, one son; Jeffery G. Broussard, one great-grandchild Roman Broussard.
Pallbearers will include Bradley Broussard, Dennis Broussard, Philip Broussard, Larry Broussard, Clint Lege, and Austin Miller.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heart of Hospice and her caregivers Robin Broussard, Danielle, and J.J. for all of their support and care.
