A race to find a cure for little Kennedy
GUEYDAN - The race to find a cure to a terminal decease can mean life or death for so many and is often considered a race to the finish. For Kennedy Thompson it is just that, the time clock is ticking and the race is on.
It is research that will save her life and possibly the life of the 25 others. Kennedy is one of 25 people in the world that suffer with Infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy which is a very rare disorder. Its specific incidence is unknown.
Kennedy’s parents were the spearhead behind the success of last week’s fundraiser, held at the Gueydan Duck Festival Grounds, to raise money to be solely used for research for her rare decease.
Jennifer Thompson, Kennedy’s mother commented, It started small and began to grow bigger and bigger and to everyone’s surprise by Saturday’s auction time the family was in awe of who was attending, the amount of folks attending, and the amount of money donated. The goal of 150,000.00 became obvious at the end of the live auction which brought in 82,000.00.
With hope and optimism Kennedy’s mother says, “We will do this again next year and hopefully it will be for another decease”.
