Grand Jury indicts former Abbeville teacher on five counts of child molestation
The Vermilion Parish Grand Jury indicted former Abbeville High science teacher Nick Willis on five new counts of child molestation of a juvenile.
His bond was set at $150,000 and is facing anywhere from 25 to 200 years in prison on the new charges.
Each child molestation charge carries a five-year to 40-year sentence if found guilty. If convicted, he will have to serve at least five years with no chance of parole
In the grand jury indictment, it states Willis allegedly committed “lewd or lascivious act” on a person under the age of 17.
The act allegedly occured from June of 2013 until January of 2015.
Earlier this year, Willis was arrested by the Kaplan Police Department after an investigation was done by the Abbeville Police Department.
The Abbeville Police determined Willis allegedly had sex with an Abbeville High female student.
A complaint was filed against Willis by the school district.
At the time, he was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile and his bond was set at $200,000.
Willis, who lives in Kaplan, eventually bailed out of jail on the first charge.
The grand jury indictment did not say if the five molestation charges were with the same AHS female student or someone new.
