Maurice woman takes part in Mad Grocery Dash in Abbeville

Over the next few months, Amy Hamilton of Maurice will have no trouble staying awake, while at the same time, smelling good.
Hamilton participated in the North Vermilion High Super Market Sweep Tuesday morning.
She had 90 seconds to dash through the Robies Food Center, selecting grocery items with the exception of alcohol, tobacco, cookware/pots, crawfish burners, and meats.
Hamilton walked through the store scouting items before she was put on the clock.
Her first item of choice was Community Coffee. She loaded up on the large bags of coffee.
Her second item choice was lots of liquid detergent. Hamilton loaded two baskets full of liquid detergent.
When the 90 seconds was over, she had three full baskets of only two different items - coffee and liquid detergent.
The total for the two items was $618. She did not grab any food.
Robies donated a $100 gift card, bringing her total to $718.
“None of these items will go bad,” she said after the dash.
Hamilton did say she planned to give some of the detergent away to friends. As far as the coffee, she will drink it all over time, she added.
