GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD HONOREE FLACO JIMÉNEZ TAKES STAGE AT AcA

LAFAYETTE, LA—Acadiana Center for the Arts has hosted many Grammy-award winners and nominees such as Rosanne Cash, John Hiatt, Chick Correa, Blind Boys of Alabama and more. Next week 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Flaco Jiménez takes the stage with conjunto band Los Texmaniacs and local favorites The Revelers on the James Devin Moncus Theater stage. Each artist brings their distinct flavor to create a collaboration that truly embodies the Louisiana Crossroads spirit.

The Texmaniacs
Los Texmaniacs feeds the masses with only the best in musical fare. Founded by Max Baca (bajo sexto, vocals), the Texmaniacs are a product of his wide-ranging experience touring and recording with some of today's hottest artists. "The group was playful in showing off their versatility, demonstrating that, indeed, traditional instrumentation isn't bound to traditional sound."

Flaco Jiménez--Recording Academy's 2015 Lifetime Achievement Honoree
Five-time GRAMMY winner Flaco Jiménez has enjoyed a career that has spanned more than six decades, throughout which, he has collaborated with artists such as Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, Doug Sahm, and Carlos Santana among others. Jiménez has maintained a huge influence on the Tex-Mex genre by continuing to record and tour, as he upholds his status as the definitive Tex-Mex accordionist.

The Revelers
Local favorites, The Revelers, capture the essence of the swamp-pop genre. More impressively, they’ve written eight brand-new swamp-pop songs that boast the same syncopated beat and ear-candy hooks as their models. More impressively still, half of those new songs are sung in French, something the original swamp-pop movement rarely did.
