White truck found burning in sugar cane field north of Abbeville

After receiving a 911 phone call, the Maurice Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to put out a truck fire at a loading site of a sugar cane field on Roosevelt Road, a mile west of the Woodlawn Bridge.
The phone call came at 3:13 a.m. on Thursday by a sugar cane farmer, who was about to begin work.
The fire department, within minutes, arrived and put out the fire. There was no one in the truck.
The white truck, a possible Chevy or GMC truck, was burnt completely.
There was no license plate and the vin number on the dashboard was burnt.
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff Department was called to the location. They are still investigating and trying to find out who owned the truck of if it was stolen. As of Friday, the department was searching for the second vin number under the truck.
