Abbeville man convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile

Jeffery Freeman was on trial this past week in Abbeville for aggravated rape of a juvenile charge, but a jury came back with a guilty verdict on the charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile, which carries a 2 to 25 year prison sentence.
Had he been convicted of aggravated rape, it carried a life sentence.
According to the true bill, Freeman allegedly raped a child multiple times between 2006 and 2008. The victim pressed charges against Freeman last year.
Freeman was first arrested last year in Crowley and transported back to Vermilion Parish until he stood trial.

Prosecuting the case for the state was assistant district attorney Monique Kolder. Chase Edwards was Freeman’s defense lawyer.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
