Motorists in Vermilion being urged to drive with caution because of flooded roads
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling on roadways as large amounts of rain and deteriorating weather conditions will be in the area for an extended period of time.
Sheriff Couvillon says that his department is working closely with Parish Government as it relates to road conditions and at this time there are only two road closures; however there have been numerous reports of localized flooding on several roadways throughout the parish.
Sheriff Couvillon urges residents to say off of roadways unless absolutely necessary and if traveling to take a precautionary measures to ensure reaching your destination safely.
Sheriff Couvillon also says that the Vermilion Parish Police Jury has put out sand and bags at the following locations for those residents who may experience flooding issues.
• Area 1 Barn – 13115 Mack Switch Rd. Erath
• Area 2 Barn – 16480 Cleo Rd. Abbeville
• Area 3 Barn – 29429 Veterans Memorial Rd. Gueydan
• Area 4 Barn – 13531 Gladu Rd. Kaplan
• Public Works Building – 2211 Leonie Rd. Abbeville
Sheriff Couvillon says that according to the Police Jury those who may need sand bags are able to obtain them at any of the aforementioned locations however you are asked to bring your
own shovel and fill your own sand bags.

1)Tee Robe Rd. from Gladu heading south.
2) Kristen Rd. from LA. Hwy. 13 to Merchant Rd.
