Old Hibernia bank building has new name: ‘Government Office Complex’
The old Hibernia Bank building on Charity Street in Abbeville now has a new name - “Vermilion Parish Government Office Complex.”
This week the Police Jury approved the payment of $3,550 to Davidson Construction Inc. relative to the installation of the sign.
The sign is located in front of the building on Charity Street.
For years, the brick structure had the words of the old bank on it. Recently, Davidson Construction did some repairs to the base and put new lettering on both sides of the sign.
The three-story building is owned by the Police Jury.
On the second floor of the building is the detective unit for the Sheriff’s Office.
The bottom floor contains State Representative Bob Hensgens office, the ASSIST Agency and the Veterans Affairs office. Also, every Thursday Probation and Parole uses the bottom floor.
