Abbeville KCs have successful fund-raiser

The Abbeville Knights of Columbus Council 2281 had a successful fund raiser in Abbeville to help raise money for the Diocese of the Military for the training of chaplains.
The council had a jambalaya fund raiser and raised just under $8,800. Recently, the members of the council gave a check to Fr. Van Constant, a military chaplain.
Ed Hebert, the grand knight of the council, handed Fr. Constant the check in the St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Church Rectory.
Hebert said the Abbeville council was asked by the Supreme Council to assist in meeting a $1 million pledge they made to the Diocese of the Military for the training of the chaplains.
As a way to raise money, the council had a pork jambalaya fund raiser and sold 1,000 tickets at $7 each.
Members of the Council 2281 thanked the St. Magdalen Youth Group, the Boy Scouts, the Vermilion Catholic students, Gulf Coast Bank, and the City Police.
The council members also thanked the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Office cooking crew for preparing and cooking the jambalaya.
