Abbeville teen charged with forcible rape of juvenile

A 17-year-old finds himself sitting in the Vermilion Parish jail today after being charged with forcible rape of a juvenile who is younger than 15 years old.
The Abbeville Police Department arrested Kinnie Henderson last week and charged him for forcible rape.
His bond is set at $100,000.
If found guilty of forcible rape, Henderson is facing not less than 5 years in prison and could be be sentenced to as long as 40 years.
Head of the Detective Unit for the Abbeville Police, Lt. David Hardy, said there is not much he can say about the case because the victim is a juvenile.
Lt. Hardy said the victim’s mother made the complaint against Henderson. He also said the victim and Henderson knew each other.
According to state law, a forcible rape is rape committed when the ntercourse is deemed to be without the lawful consent of the victim because it is committed under any one or more of the following circumstances:
• When the victim is prevented from resisting the act by force or threats of physical violence under circumstances where the victim reasonably believes that such resistance would not prevent the rape.
• When the victim is incapable of resisting or of understanding the nature of the act by reason of stupor or abnormal condition of the mind produced by a narcotic or anesthetic agent or other controlled dangerous substance administered by the offender and without the knowledge of the victim.
