Abbeville Police need help identifying man who took money in envelope off counter

A man went back to the counter at Valero Convenience Store in Abbeville after realizing he left more than $2,000 in a bank envelope on the counter. Unfortunately for him, the envelope was gone, upsetting him to where the police were called.
When the police arrived, he told them his story about accidently leaving the money. The patrolmen looked at the store’s video cameras and were able to get good images of him taking the money off the counter.
The suspect is a white male, wearing a camouflage shirt, driving a silver or light colored minivan.
If anyone can identify the suspect shown in the photos, they are asked to contact the Abbeville Police Department at 337-893-2511 or the TIPS Line @ 337-892-6777.
The man who took the cash can be charged with felony theft.
“We are hoping he comes forward with the money,” said Lt. David Hardy of the Abbeville Police.
Further information on this investigation will be released as it comes available.
