Eagles score early and often to beat Lafayette Christian
The Vermilion Catholic Eagles get their first district win with a 7-2 victory over Lafayette Christian Tuesday night.
The Eagles scored runs early and often to beat LCA.
They scored a run in the first inning, and two runs in next three innings.
The Eagles got a solid pitching performance from starter Jacob Sagrera.
Sagrera pitched a complete game.
He gave up two runs, only one of which was earned, on four hits.
Along with only allowing six total base runners, Sagrera struck out seven LCA batters.
Tyler Derouen led the way for the Eagles from the plate.
Derouen went 2-for-3 with a single and a double. He also had two RBIs, two stolen bases and scored a run.
Connor Menard was also 2-for-3 on the night.
Menard had two singles, two runs scored and two stolen bases.
The Eagles would end up having seven total stolen bases in the game.
The Eagles were back in action last night against Central Catholic, and will return home on Saturday when they play host to Gueydan. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
