Abbeville Police investigate shooting late Thursday that left one man dead

On the night of March 13 at approximately 10:38 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to a 911 complaint of shots fired at an address located on Fairview Street.
Upon the officer’s arrival, they observed a black male on the ground near a vehicle. First Responders attempted CPR on the subject but were unable to revive him. After inspecting the body, officers found that the subject had been shot.
The scene was processed by investigators and the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office was called to the scene. An autopsy is anticipated in the upcoming days.
The identity of the victim is being withheld in order for the family to notify next of kin.
