Abbeville police not 100 percent sure it was a hostage situation after all

The Abbeville Police Department is investigating what may have been a hostage situation Thursday morning at 209 Third Street in Abbeville.
Around 10:30 Thursday morning, the police received a phone call saying residents who live at 209 Third Street were being held at gun-point by three people. The Abbeville Police and Sheriff’s Office went to the scene.
When they arrived, three people were arrested and the four people were brought to the police station for questioning.
At deadline on Thursday, the subjects who live in the house and the visitors were being questioned by the detectives of the city police. As of 5 p.m., no one had been charged.
According to a resident who lives near the house, he heard the couple who lives in the house inviting another couple that night to their house. The people who rent the house went to bed and the guests remained awake.
Sometime during the night, three people with guns and pipes rushed into the house and held them hostage, according to the neighbor’s story.
At 5 p.m., the police were not 100 percent confident in the renters’ story about intruders invading their house.
