Levy Cancer Foundation created to help cancer patients in Vermilion Parish

The Levy Cancer Foundation, (LCF) the Irvin and Jo Levy Cancer Foundation, is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization developed as a vehicle to raise funds to benefit the Vermilion Parish area.
The money in the foundation will go towards helping cancer patients who live in Vermilion Parish.
The foundation was established by their daughter Cassie Levy, as a tribute to her parents, the late Irvin and Josephine Levy, both residents of Abbeville who suffered from cancer. Her father, Irvin Levy Sr, died of pancreatic cancer and her mother Josephine survived breast cancer twice.
Jo Levy was a very active member of the community, who served on the Abbeville General Hospital Board and died October 2013.
In an effort to better serve the local community with viable options for treatment, the Levy Cancer Foundation decided to partner with the Abbeville General Hospital to assure local residents that seeking treatment for cancer is a realistic option in Abbeville. After touring the hospital and the new addition dedicated to cancer treatment, Levy was impressed and eager to support the vision of AGH.
Local physicians, cancer survivors, care givers and volunteers were selected to serve on the LCF board. Cassie A. Levy, is the current Chairman of the Board and Founder of the Levy Cancer Foundation. Levy is the daughter of Irvin and Josephine Levy. She is the owner of Emmit Moss Trust, a property management company; Levy-Moss Consulting, a training and development company, a retired employee from the City of Houston and a former Banking Administrator. She holds a Master of Human Services degree from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern University A&M.
Her background includes over 30 years of nonprofit management and almost 40 years of community service. She has served on many boards including Habitat for Humanity, the Houston NAACP, Asians Against Domestic Abuse, the Suburban Houston Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the World Youth Foundation to name a few.
