Parish Tourny gets underway
The 2013 Parish Tournament got underway last night in Gueydan.
The number one seed on the guys side of the bracket is the Kaplan Pirates.
“I think it’s crazy,” Kaplan Head Coach Jeff Davis said. “However, we will take it. It is nice to have the first round bye. It gives us that little bit of extra practice time.”
The number one seed for the girls is the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles.
“It’s nice to be number one,” VC Head Coach Kim Guidry said. “It just means that we have a little more pressure on our back, but I think we are up to the task.”
The one seeds won’t get in on the action until Wednesday night.
As for the rest of the first round, the rest of the games will get underway tonight, starting with the number two seed Abbeville Lady Wildcats taking on the seventh seeded, Delcambre Lady Panthers. That game gets underway at 4:30 p.m. tonight.
At 6 p.m., the two seeded North Vermilion Patriots will be going up against the hosting team, Gueydan Bears, who are the fifth seed.
Then the last game of the night will be the fourth seeded Lady Patriots playing the fifth seeded Honey Bears.
All the games in the tournament will be held at Gueydan’s gym.
The finals of the Parish Tournament will be held on Thursday night.
The girls finals will be at 6 p.m. and the guys will be played at 7:30 p.m.
