Patriots win in overtime
For the second time in less than a week the North Vermilion Patriots faced off against Catholic High, and for the second time in less than a week, NV was victorious over Catholic High. Only this time it took two overtimes for the
Patriots to get the 51-49 victory.
At the end of the first half the Patriots actually trailed by the score of 27-18.
The Patriots turned it around in the third quarter to close the gap within three points.
The Patriots had no problem closing the gap even further in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately weren’t able to get a lead themselves.
At the end of regulation the score was 41-41.
Mike Bessard came up big for the Patriots in overtime. Bessard scored eight of the Pats 10 points combined between the two overtimes.
Bessard also led the way in scoring for the Patriots with a team high 22 points.
Nick Cooper added 12 of his own to the Patriots scoring.
Donald Comeax and Jordan Windmon rounded out the Patriots scoring output, with nine and seven respectively.
The Patriots record now stands at 2-0, with both victories coming against Catholic High.
