Tangipahoa man arrested for attempted first degree murder

Twenty -six-year-old Desmond Marshall, who lives on 12409 Clinton Street, Village of Tangipahoa, is in custody charged with attempted first-degree murder following a shooting Monday.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on December 8 Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Deputy Dennis Braziel was dispatched to 12519 Burton Lane in Tangipahoa on a shooting call. A complainant placed the call saying several people were watching television and playing cards when Marshall came in and shot a 16 year old male. Upon Braziel's arrival, he found the victim in a semi-conscious state.

When Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Detectives Mike Dean, Keith Womack and Nick Vinterella arrived and the investigation continued. The detectives soon learned the whereabouts of Marshall and advised Sgt. Steven Redmond of his location. Redmond identified the suspect's vehicle parked in a driveway in Hammond. Sgt. Redmond and Deputy Copeland approached the residence and apprehended Marshall without incident.

Marshall was arrested and charged with first degree murder. In addition to the attempted first-degree murder charges, Marshall has also been charged with criminal damage to property, possession of stolen property and aggravated battery. Additional charges are pending.
