Meaux and Hargett exchange vows

Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan was the setting for the July 9, 2010, wedding of Maisie Maria Meaux and Jacob Houston Hargett. Father David Broussard and Father Donald Theriot officiated at the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Craig Meaux of Kaplan and Mrs. Perla Meaux of Lafayette. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Mahlen Meaux and the late Mrs. Goldie Meaux of Kaplan and of Mr. and Mrs. Alberto Saludes of New Orleans.

She is a graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School in Abbeville, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she received a degree in kinesiology, and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where she received her master’s in physical pherapy.

She is currently employed as a physical Ttherapist with McLeod-Trahan-Sheffield Physical Therapy in Youngsville and is working on her doctorate degree in physical therapy.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hargett, Sr. of Lafayette. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ruth Rougeou and the late Dr. Clyde Rougeou and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hargett Sr. of Lafayette.

He is a graduate of Lafayette High School and The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he received a degree in business management. He went on to receive a masters in business administration from the University of Louisiana and then received his juris doctorate from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans.

Jacob is currently employed as an attorney with Davidson, Meaux, Sonnier & McElligott in Lafayette.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was stunning in a beautifully fitted strapless gown made of ivory taffeta. The gown featured a soft sweetheart neckline and a very elegant silver embroidered bodice with silk covered buttons down the back of the gown. Wrapped, pleated taffeta accented the hip with a beaded appliqué to finish the unique design.

Finally, a slim, a-line skirt was caught up with layers of softly gathered pick-ups which flowed into a fan-like semi-cathedral train. The bride also wore her grandmother’s heirloom diamond earrings along with her sister-in-law’s heirloom tiara. The veil was waist length of silk elusion trimmed with soft glimmering rhinestones.

Karen McCardle, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Katie Broussard, Brooke Bruns, Ann Raush, Chrissi Reesby, Sommer Sheffield and Margaret Zaunbrecher, friends of the bride.

The best man was Richard Hargett Jr., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Edwin Vice, Chris Guidry, John Raggio and John Bergeron, friends of the groom, Craig Joseph Meaux and Tyson Meaux, brothers of the bride. Ushers were Matthew Gaar, nephew of the groom, Ryan Leblanc, friend of the groom and Kevin Romero, cousin of the bride.

Flower girls were Annelise Gaar, Ava Gaar and Holly Hargett, nieces of the groom. The ring bearer was Austin Welborn, nephew of the groom. The scriptures were read by April Gaar, sister of the groom, and Kelly Mitchell, cousin of the bride. Gerette Hebert, the bride’s aunt, served as Eucharistic minister and Danielle Dubois, the bride’s niece, served as an alter server. The offeratory gifts were brought up by Ruth Rougeou, grandmother of the groom, Raquel Saludes, aunt of the bride, Perla Saludes, grandmother of the bride, and Ginger Welborn, sister of the groom.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Kip Faulk, Polly Martin and Andre Courville.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at Magdalen Place in Abbeville.

After returning from their honeymoon in Los Cabos, Mexico, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
