Who will be Abbeville’s new rec director?

Who will be the new Abbeville Parks and Recreation Director? Tuesday at the Abbeville City Meeting, the council may hire one.
After being without a parks and recreation director for the last three months, the city council Tuesday will conduct interviews with the qualified candidates before the city council meeting. After the interviews, the council is expected to vote on which applicant they want to hire.
The last time the city council hired a parks and recreation director (Jerry Smith), there were 139 applicants. A committee went through the 139 applicants and hand picked the top qualified.
This time around, there are not 139 applicants. Just under 30 applicants arrived at city hall. However, out of the 20-plus applicants, only three met the requirements. According to Civil Service, Abbeville’s Parks and Recreation Director has to have a college degree.
The councilmen and Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza are expected to interview all three tonight.
Here is a list of the applicants.
• Seth Douget – Seth applied for the position the last time. Today, he is the assistant director of Special Facilities for Event Operations at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. He is originally from Duson.
• Chaunce Davison - Chaunce is working for the East Carroll Parish School Board. He is the PE teacher/coach at Griffin Middle School Academy.
• Nicholas Dupré - Nicholas is a recent UL-L graduate in sports management. For the last two years he has been working at Academy Sports in Lafayette.
