Whatever outcome on Tuesday, Koryn parade will be held in Abbeville
Local fans have watched for weeks as Koryn Hawthorne has made her mark on NBC’s “The Voice.”
Those fans will have the opportunity to see Hawthorne in person today as she will return to her hometown of Abbeville for a parade and concert. The event will begin with the parade through the downtown area, with a concert to follow in Magdalen Square. The parade will start near Jim’s Tire Service on State Street, travel down State Street and turn left in front of the courthouse and go toward downtown and then go around Magdalen Square.
“We are so proud that Koyrn was able to put us on the map,” Abbeville Main Street Manager Charlene Beckett said.
Koryn reached the top six and performed on Monday’s episode of “The Voice.” Tuesday’s episode finished after press time. If Koryn reaches the top five, crews from the show will document today’s festivities. Those crews were in town Tuesday afternoon scouting
locations. Local officials have offered a helping hand.
“Everybody is working together because we all support Koryn and are proud of our city,” Beckett said.
Should the NBC cameras roll today in Abbeville, the rest of America will see a picturesque small town Louisiana setting.
“It is great exposure,” Beckett said. “Magdalen Square is a great setting.
“We are getting to showcase the pearl of Vermilion Parish.”
Again, Beckett was quick to point out all of this is thanks to Koyrn’s talents.
“It’s all her,” Beckett said. “It’s about her and we are thankful that she promoted us as well as she has.”
Lynn LeBlanc, Mayor Mark Piazza’s administrative assistant who has worked closely with the crew, agreed.
“The show didn’t just say Koryn was from Louisiana,” LeBlanc said. “They said she was from Abbeville, Louisiana.”
