Vermilion School District graduates 89 percent of its students

More students are graduating from Vermilion Parish public schools than ever before.
The state released its 2012-2013 graduation rates recently. High schools are graduating 74 percent of its students, compared to 65 percent in 2004-2005.
In Vermilion, 89 percent of students are graduating from the district. In 2005, only 69 percent were graduating.
The parish has improved by 20 percent over the last nine years.
The parish’s graduation rates have slowly climbed over the years. In 2008-2009 school year, graduation rates dipped to 67 percent. The next year, however, the graduation rates jumped to 81 percent.
The 2011-2012 year, graduation rates in Vermilion were 83 percent which was still nine points higher than the state average.
