Emma Broussard is an 8th grade student at Rene Rost Middle. She was recently named the public school middle school student of the year.

How old are you?

I am 14 years old.

What grade are you in?
I am in 8th grade and attend Rene Rost Middle School.

Your favorite subject in school? Why?
My favorite subject is science because I find it interesting to learn about everything that is happening around me.

What is your worst subject? Why?

My worst subject is social studies because the future interests me more than the past does.

President of the RMS 7th and 8th grade 4-H Club, President of RMS Student Council, Captain of RMS Cheer Squad, BETA member, RMS Softball player, Talented and Gifted Program, Vermilion Junior Leader, Vermilion Parish Show Team(show cattle and horses), Klebe Meaux Art School, Jolette’s Tumbling Class, coached 8U Fastpitch girls’ team and 8U All Star team

How do you balance school and all of your extra things after school? How tough is it?

I have to plan ahead and manage my time. It is easier than most people think.

If you had to do only one (extra school activity) for the remaining of the school year, which activity would you select? Why?

If I had to choose one, I would choose showing because at the shows I get to meet kids my age. Competing on the parish, district, and state levels with my cattle and horses is very exciting to me.

Tell us something about yourself. Not many people know about you.

Most people do not know that I have 22 first cousins.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

If I could change one thing about myself, I would not change anything.

Name the type of music you listen to and who is your favorite music artist.
I listen to country music and my favorite artist is George Strait.

Pretend you could meet anyone in the world this summer, who would it be and why? 

I would want to meet Carrie Underwood. I’ve always wanted to meet her because she is so talented.

Any clue yet on what you want to do after high school?
After high school, I want to go to college and become a physical therapist.
