Vermilion Parish voters approve school board property tax renewal
Voters in Vermilion Parish approved the renewal of a 10-mill, 10-year property tax.
The voters first approved the tax in 1996, which is dedicated to three things.
In Saturday’s election, 87 percent of the voters approved the renewal with 70 out of 80 precincts. reporting.
There were 1,808 who voted “yes” and 295 against.
Half of the 10 mills is for roof and air conditioning repair. Three mills are designated for classroom computers and text books. The other two mills are for the purchase of school buses.
The tax generates $3.3 million a year.

• 5 Mills for repair of roofs and air conditioning and/or heating systems
Voters approved the renewal in 2005.
